A contemporary layout was configured under this 1957 house’s original roof, exposing hipped geometry that is typically concealed with flat ceilings. When overlaid onto new rectilinear interior spaces this generic roof shape creates moments of surprise, with angled planes flowing through the interior. The wood-lined interior lets the clients elegantly experience all four of Toronto’s distinct seasons, via courtyards and sunken gardens.
